An Evening with Widespread Panic

Location: Tennessee Theatre, 604 South Gay Street, (865) 684-1200
7:30 p.m. - The iconic Jam Band returns for another engagement at the Tennessee Theatre. Everybody loves surprises, that feeling of not knowing what might be around the next corner -- and that's exactly the vibe that Widespread Panic gives off every time they unleash a new album. Sometimes that means taking listeners on a nice, smooth ride, and sometimes it means making 'em hold on tight, but either way, it means the trip is gonna be worth it. On Dirty Side Down, their ATO debut and 11th studio offering overall, Widespread Panic offer listeners the sonic equivalent of a dip in a cool mountain stream.

Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band
Location: Bijou Theatre, 803 South Gay Street, (865) 522-0832
The Beast In Its Tracks, the new album from renowned singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, will be released March 5. Of the record, Ritter says, 'In the year after my marriage ended, I realized that I had more new songs than I'd ever had at one time. Far from the grand, sweeping feel of the songs on So Runs the World Away, these new songs felt like rocks in the shoe, hard little nuggets of whatever they were, be it spite, remorse, or happiness.' Ritter & The Royal City Band will celebrate the release of The Beast In Its Tracks with a North American tour. All concert tickets are bundled with a unique musical package including a redemption code to download The Beast In Its Tracks upon release date. Ticket purchasers will also receive an immediate download of the album's first single, 'Joy To You Baby.' This is the sixth full-length recording from Ritter, who has been widely heralded by critics and fans alike.

Toad and the Wet Sprocket

Location:
Mark your calendar for Sunday, July 14 as i105 presents Toad and the Wet Sprocket live at the Bijou Theatre.
When Monty Python’s Eric Idle created the fictional band "Toad the Wet Sprocket" for the program “Rutland Weekend Television” in 1975, he never dreamed that anyone would actually use such a silly name. Fast forward to 1986, when four California teens desperately needed to come up with a name to call their band for an upcoming gig at a Goleta, CA watering hole called The Shack.
Since that day, "Toad the Wet Sprocket" has been the name of the four piece California rock band consisting of lead singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning, and drummer Randy Guss. From 1989-1998, they made 5 studio albums which combined sold over four million copies, had five major radio hits, and won over audiences across North America and Europe.
After breaking up in 1998, Toad would get together sporadically to play shows on a casual basis, but their hard core fans never gave up hope for a new album. After successful tours in 2006-2010, the band finally decided to put the last piece of the puzzle in place, and committed to working together on new music. They also decided to update their classic catalog, and created a new Greatest Hits album "All You Want", which came out in 2011.
Toad the Wet Sprocket are currently in the studio with producer Mikal Blue, and fans can look forward to a new release and extensive tour in 2013.
